Stop Playing Tour Guide. Start Having Fun.
We know the drill. Cousin Mikey is visiting from the mainland, or your college roommate is in town for the week. You love them, and you want to show them the Aloha spirit, but the pressure to be their personal tour guide is exhausting. You’ve hiked Diamond Head a dozen times. You’re tired of circling Waikiki looking for street parking. And you definitely don’t want to spend your Saturday standing in line at a generic tourist trap.
XploreRide is the hosting hack you’ve been waiting for. It is the perfect activity to show them the culture, history, and beauty of Hawaii, while you sit back in premium air-conditioning and actually enjoy the ride yourself.
It is short (40 minutes), centrally located in Waikiki, and it’s unlike anything they have back home. You get all the credit for finding the “cool new thing,” with zero stress. Let us handle the entertainment while you take a break.

The “Kamaʻāina Approved” Tour
Most tourist activities are a nightmare for locals. XploreRide is different.
Here is why residents love bringing their guests on our electric bus:
1. You Learn Something New Too
Think you know everything about Honolulu? Think again. Our content dives deep into the mythology of the land, the formation of the craters, and the specific marine biology of our reefs. Even lifelong residents tell us, “I never knew that about the Manta Rays!” or “I didn’t know that’s how Diamond Head was formed!” It’s not just a tourist trap; it’s a cultural experience that respects the place we live and teaches you something new about your island home.
2. No Sweat, No Hiking
Let’s be honest: hiking the Lanikai Pillbox trail or climbing Koko Head at noon is brutal. XploreRide gives your guests the scenic views and the history lesson without the sunburn or the sweat. It is the perfect activity for older relatives (Grandma and Grandpa) who can’t hike, or for that mid-day slump when it’s simply too hot to be outside. You stay cool, dry, and comfortable the entire time.
3. The Perfect "Gap Filler"
It’s only 40 minutes. You don’t have to commit your entire Saturday to it. It fits perfectly between picking them up from the airport and checking into their hotel (when the room isn’t ready yet), or as a pre-dinner activity before you hit a happy hour in Waikiki. It keeps them entertained while you figure out where to eat.
The “Show Off Your City” Loop
Here is a stress-free itinerary that makes you look like a hosting pro, allowing you to enjoy the best of Waikiki without the hassle:
- 3:30 PM – Park at Royal Hawaiian: Park in the garage (don’t forget to grab a validation ticket!). Walk just across the street to DFS Waikiki. It’s the easiest, most reliable parking spot in town.
- 4:00 PM – The XploreRide Tour: Board the bus. Your guests get blown away by the “Deep Sea” visuals and the novelty of the technology. You get to relax in the AC, check your phone, or simply enjoy the show without having to narrate or answer questions.
- 4:45 PM – Sunset Drinks: Drop off right where you started. Walk over to The Beach Bar at the Moana Surfrider or House Without A Key at Halekulani.
- 5:30 PM – Sunset: You are perfectly positioned to watch the sunset with a maitai and appetizers in hand, having alre

Yes! We are one of the few tours in Honolulu that offers the full experience in Japanese as well as English. The visual nature of the tour also transcends language—everyone understands the beauty of a whale swimming by! It’s perfect for hosting family from Japan.
-
Absolutely. It is one of the most senior-friendly activities in Waikiki. There is no walking required once you board, the bus is climate-controlled, and the volume is comfortable. It’s a great way for grandparents to see the sights without the physical strain of walking tours or the heat of boat rides.
-
We recommend parking at the Royal Hawaiian Center garage, directly across from our pickup point at DFS Waikiki. It offers the most reliable parking in the area, and you can get validation if you eat or shop there (Tip: Grab a coffee or lunch there to validate your ticket!).
-
If you are picking guests up straight from the airport (or heading there after), we have a luggage storage compartment under the bus. Please let us know in advance if you will have large suitcases so we can assist you with loading them safely.
